Iced Moruga Latte: Cold 100% Cacao with Oat Milk

Iced Moruga Latte with oat milk and 100% cacao

When it is warm, cacao also works cold. The Iced Moruga Latte is a simple summer version of 100% cacao: dissolve it warm first, then serve it over ice. This keeps the drink creamy and chocolatey without using cocoa powder or added sugar.

Ingredients for 1 glass

  • 5-7 Moruga Cacao Drops, depending on how intense you like your cacao
  • 100-200 ml hot water for dissolving
  • 200 ml oat milk or barista oat milk
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: a little cinnamon or vanilla

Preparation

  1. Pour hot water over the Moruga Cacao Drops and stir or foam until they are fully melted.
  2. Add the oat milk and chill briefly. If you want it fast, pour the cacao directly over plenty of ice cubes.
  3. Fill a glass with ice cubes, pour in the cacao and round it off with cinnamon or vanilla if you like.

Why dissolve cacao warm first?

Moruga Drops are made from 100% cacao. They melt best with hot water and then combine more easily with plant milk. It is the same basic idea as preparing Moruga Cacao, only served cold afterwards.

Which cacao works well?

For an Iced Moruga Latte, round, nutty or mildly fruity origins work especially well. If you are new to Moruga, the Moruga Starter Kit is the easiest way to start because it gives you cacao and preparation tools together.
